Chili con carné

Ingredients:

1 pound lean ground beef/chicken/turkey

1/3 cup oil

1 small onion, diced

1 inch ginger, finely chopped

4 cloves garlic, finely chopped

3 tablespoons Perfect Taste Curry Powder

1 can (28 oz.) diced tomatoes

1 can (19 oz.) chick peas

1 can (19 oz.) red kidney beans

3 cans (each 14 oz.) beans with maple syrup, or beans with molasses, or brown beans

1 teaspoon salt, or to taste

 

Instructions:

In a large pot, heat oil and sauté onion until soft. Add ginger and garlic and stir for a minute (do not brown). Add PT Curry Powder and lower heat to medium, stirring for a few seconds. Add meat to the spice mixture, sprinkle with salt, and brown for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning. Add tomatoes and mix well with meat mixture, cooking for a minute longer. Add chick peas and kidney beans with liquid. Cover pot and bring the mixture to a simmer; cover and cook for 2 minutes. Add beans with maple syrup; stir and mix well. Cover and cook for 5 more minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
